Holroyds Chartered Surveying and Estate Agency business was established in Dewsbury in 1897 by Herbert Pickersgill who ran the firm through the early part of the 20th century before it was passed to Robert Holroyd, the firm was then called Herbert Pickersgill and upon Robert Holroyd passing the firm to his two sons, John and Brian it soon became Holroyd Sons & Pickersgill, a grand old Yorkshire name if ever there was one. John and Brian traded successfully for many years at the bottom of Daisy Hill until their retirement, when in turn the business was passed to Hearl Lenton and Jonathan Kidd, both Hearl and Jonathan had worked for the firm since leaving school and both had benefited from John and Brian’s wealth of experience while training to become Chartered Surveyors themselves.

Holroyds became the name of the firm shortly before the move to the present office in Daisy Hill in 2003. Hearl and Jonathan invested in the refurbishment of a former shop unit to create the modern showroom from which the firm now trades.
